who we are

Our Story

Lok Kalyan Samiti was founded in the year 1952 by Late Sh. Kalyan Singh Gupta Ji. He was supported by various national leaders, friends and family to start this initiative five years after India’s partition, responding to the sufferings of lakhs of starving refugees in Delhi. On his initiative, 12 dedicated social workers came together and started work by contributing one rupee each (i.e. Rs.12/- in all) to mitigate the plight of the homeless refugees by way of arranging, mobilizing and providing free health check-ups, medicines etc. Since then, we have worked tirelessly for more than 7 decades for various social causes and welfare activities, which include healthcare, remedial education, and vocational training, thus earning the popular name of ‘Poor mans Eye Hospital’ amongst the locals for conducting free cataract surgeries and in addition made us one of the best charity organization in India due to the provision of comprehensive programs in health, education and vocational training.

Vision

A Bharat where no one loses their sight to a preventable cause. Where every person, regardless of their background, has access to good healthcare, education, and the dignity of earning their own livelihood.

Mission

To serve with seva at heart, reaching the most vulnerable with compassion, honesty, and a deep sense of responsibility toward the communities we work in.

Lok Kalyan Samiti does this by:

  • Bringing quality eye care and healthcare within reach of every family, from remote villages to underserved urban areas, so that cost or caste never comes between a person and their eyesight.
  • Standing beside children from disadvantaged families and giving them a stronger foundation through education, so they grow up believing their futures are not limited by their circumstances.
  • Helping women gain economic independence through practical skills like stitching, handicrafts, and beauty training, so they can earn, stand tall, and support their families on their own terms.
